As I've said elsewhere, I've got cats in my household. One of the more unpleasant parts of dealing with cats, is dealing with their litter box. Change the litter regularly, and scoop out, um, clumps daily. There's a new solution that's not only clever engineering, it really helps.

The Scoop and Bag Litter Scooper, by Tail End Pet Products, has a large cylindar for the handle. You slip a zip-lock baggie over the cylindar. Then, you scoop, shake out the excess litter, and just tilt back to slide into the baggie. When all done, slide off the baggie and sealed, and everything's done, nice and clean.

It seems remarkably simple, and it is, but having used traditional scoops and this, it's absolutely brilliant. Much more convenient. One handed operation (so the other hand is free to shoo away cats that want to "help"). No chance of spilling when going from scoop to bag (so no spilling litter on the hand holding the bag). The Scoop comes with a set of bags that claim to seal odor into the bag, but any similar sized bag should do once you run out of the original set.

I'm giving this thing 10 Oooos out of 10. It's not glamorous, just darned good design. You can order it online from Petco.com for $9.99. If you've got cats, you want one of these.
