New version 1.0.1 is up.
Program does not support exe file creation any more. Now creates a zip file (extension .bootscreen) with
the pictures you want and an ini file with all the infos about the boot screen (very small size – about 50 KB
each screen). This zip file can be handled
by BootEditor directly and LogonUIBootRandomizer

Link is down until I clear up some things.
Finally, I manage to upload new version 0.9.93. Check the What’s new section.
New version 0.9.91 is out. A must update:
<> A new powerfull
feature/function that can locate the palette's and progress bar's positions
even for unknown/unsupported kernel versions. Until now the program had build
in support for kernel versions
5.1.2600.0, 5.1.2600.31, 5.1.2600.1106
(SP1) and
for
DUAL CPU systems versions
5.1.2600.0 and 5.1.2600.31
Now
the progarm can locate all the infos
for any file version automatically (on fly) with out any need to update the
program.
A
relative option at dialog Options.
<> Now, before set a new boot
screen, program will compare the version numbers of the new boot screen with
the original ntoskrnl.exe file located to system32 folder. If found that
versions are different (or the one is for dual cpu
systems while the other not), will show a warning message.
[That way (I think) that BSOD
are limited to almost 0%]
To update an old boot
screen to a new (SP1) boot screen using BootEditor,
do these:
1. Replace the ntoskrnl.exe file
inside BootEditor's folder with one new (SP1)
ntoskrnl.exe file. [Do this only once]
2. Run BootEditor
and select the screen you want to update
3. Hit the Make button.
At the
dialog that appears be sure to CHECK the "First, copy a clean ntoskrnl.exe
file...".
[Select the other options as you want]
4. Hit
the Ok button
Done.
At active folder
(screen) you will found 2 files.
1. ntoskrnl.exe - The new (SP1) kernel file
2. ntoskrnl.exe.bak -
This is the old/original (before SP1) kernel file
Full support for kernel version
5.1.2600.1106 (SP1)
If you want to use the new kernel for SP1 (v.
5.1.2600.1106), it is good to delete the ntoskrnl.exe file inside program’s
folder and restart the program.
WinXP SP1
Program is NOT compatible with SP1 yet.
Probably Friday will be ready an update.
