Marquee

This is the marquee I have now. I bought the replica marquee online because I thought it would give more authenticity to my cabinet. The material is a flexible plastic and it really looks nice with the light shining behind it. The above picture was taken before the marquee was mounted in the cabinet.

Nice view of the marquee fitted into the cabinet.

Initailly before I got the replica marquee, I decided to get my pic printed off at a printers and then wedge the paper in between two pieces of plexi. Behind the plexi, I added a 20 inch fluorescent light which really shone nicely. Also behind the light, I mounted of my 4 speakers in the speaker holes that were left behind from the old speaker setup. This was nice because the sound for the games come from precisely the same area as the original. I got my marquee picture printed out at a print shop called Sir Speedy. Unfortunately for me, they didn't have any paper that would print at 6 1/2 inches high by 26 inches wide. Unfortunately I had to settle and get it printed on a smaller piece of paper. Since it didn't fully cover my plexi, I decided to put black construction paper on each end which blocks the light totally. This was meant to be a temporary solution until I found a printer that would print the marquee at the correct size but in time.

Initially, I had started with the generic mame logo and was adding Star Wars graphics on it. However, I came across a nice Star Wars marquee graphic created by OSCAR of OSCAR Spinner fame. I immediately fell in love with it and e-mailed OSCAR asking if I could use it. He said yes, and even helped resize it so that it fit the dimensions of my marquee.

Notice the Marquee isn't complete in this picture. In fact, the paper is still on the plexiglass to protect it.

As you can see, the marquee shines nicely

Yet another shot from straight on

Another straight on shot but with the new marquee

Not a very good picture but a view of the light that illuminates the marquee. I got it from Kents Building Supply.
