Since I wanted my machine to double as a dvd player, there was no question that I was going to need Win 98 on my computer. Even though I have a trackball, I wanted most of the menu interface to be done with the joysticks and buttons on the HotRod SE. The best frontend was a program called PartyOn! This proggie was designed specifically for Hotrod owners and is completely configurable. I use it to allow guests to select games from either of the following categories:

Classic Games
Shooter Games
Beat em Up Games
Fighter Games

All these categories load the game directly through mame32. They can also browse through the main list of games through this program as well.
Other categories include:

PC Games
Movies (I have a selection of DivX and DVD movies listed)
Mp3 Jukebox

The PartyOn! program also has a nice screensaver that cycles through all the pictures that you have programmed into it.

Multi Arcade Machine Emulator I use Mame32 to run my mame games. I like it because it has a nice frontend and lots of options such as displaying marquees, cabinets, flyers and screenshots of the selected game.

Double Dragon 3 running on M.A.M.E

MOVIES
For my movies, I use PowerDVD for my DVD movies and DivX Mpeg4 Hi-Res Video Codec for my DivX movies. I don't watch the movies on the monitor in my cabinet, but output them to the televison with my TV Out card.

There are a few plugins I use for this. To run my lcd display, I use a plugin from Zerohype. This program displays a variety of information on the lcd including song name, progress bar, winamp stats like playlist length, shuffle, etc, song filename, eq info, current url in winamp minibrowser, system time and date, etc.

Sometimes I like to run my arcade box as a jukebox, complete with having to coin in to get a song to start. The program I use is called Arcade Jukebox 4 and was written by Mark Schwartz.
