Arcade games in the living room

Welcome to Arcade-at-Home.com! I started out collecting arcade games in 2003 with a Nintendo Popeye I bought for $25.00. It played blind and needed a good cleaning. From there my collection of arcade games, pinball machines, and pachislo machines has expended to what is represented on these pages. My collection of arcade games is constantly changing, but one thing is certain, I am running out of room! As for the Popeye arcade game? I still own that first game.

This site isn't just about my collection. I'll be adding helpful tips, how-to's and information in the days and months to come. Sign up for the newsletter and get some of this sent directly to your inbox!

5/8/2005 - Auctions auctions, and more auctions. Went to 2 auctions in the past 2 weekends. See the reviews for Cashman Auctions here and Super Auctions here. I have also added a tutorial for applying side art. There are 2 different thoughts on how to do it. I recommend this method over the water based method. I am really busy so updates are not as often as I like. I did pick up 2 new pinballs machines, a Fish Tales in excellent shape and a Hurricane that needs work. Also picked up an empty Millipede cabinet converted to JAMMA at the same auction. Pictures to be posted later.

4/23/2005 - It's been too long since I updated. Unfortunately my work-life balance is tilting heavily towards work these days. The auto racing season has started so that takes up some time too. =]

I have added 3 new pages today. These are

If I have time later this weekend I'll post my tutorial on applying side art, using my Donkey Kong as an example.

4/5/2005 - How to find arcade video games and pinball machines online. Wrote up part one of a three part series on locating arcade video games and pinball machines for your hobby. Part one deals with locating machines online and can be found by clicking here. Part two will consist of finding pinball machines and video arcade games "offline". Part three will feature ways to get these games cheaply.

Also added a few more games to the Arcade page. Look for big changes to this section in the coming weeks!

3/26/2005 - New Domain! Arcade@Home now has a new domain, http://www.arcade-at-home.com with upgraded servers. There shouldn't be any more broken images and failed page loads. New content is forthcoming, keep checking back on a regular basis. Don't forget to subscribe to the Arcade@Home Newsletter. It's free!
3/25/2005 - Not much content added today. I did start offering a FREE newsletter. The Arcade@Home newsletter will contain:
  1. Tips for arcade and pinball collectors
  2. Advice for arcade and pinball collectors
  3. Technical information on arcade games and pinball machines
  4. Other useful arcade and pinball machine tidbits I have collected since being in this great hobby

3/22/2005 - Added MAME section to the website. MAME can be found under the "Other" tab in the top navigation. This MAME section is just a small beginning consisting of a MAME Cabinet FAQ. I intend to add more helpful tips on making a MAME cabinet, setting up front ends, a step by step process for creating your very own Arcade@Home in one machine!

On another note I realized I utterly hate the postal service in my town. How does anyone misplace a package and then claim they delivered it to your house at a time when you were actually home?

I'll add links under the "Links" section one day soon. I promise!

3/20/2005 - Welcome to my little piece of the internet. One day I just decided I needed a new hobby and wanted something challenging and fun. This has proven to be both, as well as frustrating, painful, and rewarding. This is dedicated to my hobby of collecting arcade games and pinball machines which I began collecting 2 years ago. I started with a broken Nintendo Popeye that I picked up for $25, then I then stumbled across my best deal so far, and the rest have come in bits and pieces. I don't have many details on the machines I've sold to others early on, so we'll just start with what I have now. The site is broken down into the following:
  • Arcade Game - Put in a quarter and play a game
  • Pinball Machines - Who doesn't love a good pinball?
  • Other - Miscellaneous other coin operated items, some repair experiences of mine, M.A.M.E. cabinet FAQ and information. Anything that doesn't fit in another category
  • Arcade - Play some arcade games online, for free!
  • Links - This is exactly what you think it is. Links to other useful sites! Who could have guessed?
