The Coffee Table Arcade

The Cabinet

The sides of the cabinet were made out of pine board, and routed along the edges and the interior rectangle. The sides, bottom, and top were made from 3/4" birch plywood. It was put together with dowel pins and glue, so no screw or nail holes to fill.

The sides have dadoes cut to provide the slot that the top slides into, as well as to hold the bottom in place.

The top has the center cut out, this is the part that flips up and into the cabinet for game play. Molding is also added around the edges.
The cabinet was painted black on the inside, and stained with dark walnut on the outside. I used Watco Danish Oil, which is very forgiving. It also had three coats of polyurethane to protect the finish.
