Penny Arcade 2

The Stand

This is the stand for using the Penny Arcade 2 as an upright cabinet. The two sides are 24"x40" 3/4" melamine, the back is 18"x42", the bottom is 22"x18", and the top is 6"x18". The top is left mostly open so that you can get access to the hardware if necessary (and also gives more ventilation to the hardware). The cost of the wood was three panels of 2'x4' melamine at $9 each, or $27. The two small posts in front attach to grabbing latches on in inside of the main unit. They came from my parts supply so are freebees, they would cost about $5 for the pair at Home Depot.

As with the main cabinet, the edges are covered with melamine edging, at a cost of $9.

This latch is used to lock the main cabinet onto the latch. The higher back plane of the stand and the posts in front stabilize the unit, this actually holds the connector in place. Another freebee from my parts supply, available for around $10 for the Home Depot.
This is the cabinet on the stand. The controls are at a comfortable height. For $63, the cabinet can be used as an upright instead of a desktop model.
