Some of you who looked closely at the completed pictures may have noticed this button on the top. It isn't a power button. It's to activate a sound board inside the Ebony compartment. It's an arcade button, black to match the surface. |
The larger circuit board is the amplifier from a set of computer speakers. Only one speaker is connected, since the sound source isn't in stereo.
The small circuit board is from a speaking picture frame, where a short phrase can be recorded to associate with the picture. It can record ten seconds of audio, and play back on demand. The circuit board was removed from the case, the batteries were replaced with a power adapter, the speaker was turned into a plug to the amplifier, and the switch was replaced with two wires for connection to the button on top.
|
The wires from the sound board are attached to the switch on the button. Button pushed, connection made across the wires, and the sound board plays.
What does it play? Ten seconds of, "Ebony and Ivory, Live Together In Perfect Harmony".
