Miscellaneous Notes

Most of my arcades are designed not to look like arcades, so it was fun to go for the arcade look.

Melamine is an interesting surface to deal with. It looks good, is not very expensive, and isn't that hard to work with. While it won't fit for every job, I'll definitely look at it for shelves and other similar surfaces.

There are three all-in-one controllers currently available. The Namco, an Atari 10-in-1, and an Intellivision. I tried the Atari 10-in-1, but taking it apart, it isn't nearly as friendly to hacking as the Namco. Plus, the Atari games were only the old Atari 2600 quality, so I wasn't too broken-hearted when it didn't work. The Namco games look and feel like the arcades to me. I've never been into the Intellivision games, so didn't try that.

If someone does a controller with the great Wilson games, you may see Son Of Penny Arcade.

My goal was to break the $250 price point. I blew past it with $312.47. Careful shopping could save money on the TV, the Plexiglass panel isn't really necessary, and the molding could be replaced. It still definitely counts as a budget arcade.
