Rotate your Monitor!

Quite a few people have devised different methods for rotating the monitor in their Mame cabinet. Some people rotate the monitor by hand to whatever orientation they desire, others have used motors to rotate their monitor.  Either method allows the monitor to be viewed in the original orientation for whichever game is played. (IMHO, they way it should be!)

Info on this page is intended to aid people who want to use a DC motor to rotate the monitor to the correct orientation automatically based on a game selected. A stumbling point for many people seems to be how to control the motor through software, be it a front end or Mame.

One solution is outlined here including hardware, software and source code to control a motor via a PC’s parallel port. The information here relates more to controlling the motor vs. building the physical rotating assembly - if you need help building a basic gimbal to rotate your monitor, do a quick web search or check at www.arcadecontrols.com, you should be able to find quite a few examples.
