I spend a lot of time in two worlds, at least two computer worlds. I'm a Mac programmer and fanatic, and yet I spend time with PCs and enjoy creating arcade cabinets and other specialty cases for PCs. What if I could build a computer that was both a Mac and a PC? Both sides being a no-nonsense workhorse computer. That was the beginning of the Ebony and Ivory project.

The case is 15" wide, 24" high, and 24" deep. It has a 1.4 GHz G4 PowerMac, and a 3 GHz Pentium 4 PC. They are both connected to a satellite box that fits on the desktop that includes power switches, power lights, and a KVM to switch the monitor, mouse, keyboard, and audio between the two. The two computers must be easily able to share data, so a headless server is included in the back compartment with other wiring.

This is actually the second version of Ebony and Ivory. The first case was a cube, with thin wood covered with vinyl. I decided I wasn't happy with the appearance, and so rebuilt the case. You can see the original pages here.
