The miscellaneous notes for the first Ebony and Ivory case ended with "Ebony and Ivory is done, at least for now." Sounds like as good of a start for these notes.

This has been, to say the least, the most expensive project I've ever worked on. It would have been so even if I hadn't built the case twice, hadn't destroyed a $1000 1 GHz G4 PowerMac in trying to use it for the project, and hadn't destroyed a $1000 eMac in trying to use it for the project. If anyone is attempting to transplant a Mac to another case, follow other people's footprints, use an older PowerMac like the Gigabit Ethernet board.

The weak point in the design is still the doors over the removable media area. If I can figure out how to do a door that looks better, I may try replacing them.

Still, I've got a case with three computers running three operating systems inside. It's a useable computer, everything is designed for functionality (as well as trying to be outrageous). I was very happy to find ClarkConnect's server software.

I'm pleased with how the satellite box turned out. I may try running USB and Firewire extension cords out to the box, so that I can plug components into the box as well. If I was making this box with just one computer (no KVM needed), I'd also put an external optical disk in there. That way, you never have to touch the main computer case, it can be built into a drawer...dang. That could be cool.

The frosting spray paint on the windows turned out GREAT. I could have used a better stencil on the Ivory side, but it was an easy way to give a rectangular window some pizzazz, not very expensive, and looks great with the cathode tube's light hitting it at an angle.
