Starting the Cabinet

I knew I wanted three compartments in the cabinet, two large compartments for the two computers and one smaller one in back for power strips and other extras.

The skeleton was built out of 3/4" MDF. The two large comparments are 18" wide, 23" tall, and 6" deep. The back compartment is 13" wide, 23" tall, and 5 1/4" deep.

The holes are drilled for passing cords through to the back.

Ball casters are mounted to the bottom of the base so the cabinet can roll around easily.

These pieces will make the top of the cabinet. The holes are for fans that will pull air out of the cabinet.

The wood is Pine, it's easy to work with and will take a stain well. This is done in two pieces so that I can stain one piece with a light stain, and the other with a dark stain. Dowel holes have been drilled to hold the two pieces together after staining.

These pieces are the front. The holes at are for fans that will pull air into the cabinet. The rectangles were for optical drives. I wasn't very happy with my work on the rectangles, so I changed that part later.

Again, these are made of pine, and in two separate parts for staining. They also take routing well, so all outside corners are given a rounded edge.

Two more pieces were also made for the two sides. These have no holes, so weren't deemed by me to be worth taking a picture of.
