Game of the Day - Radar Scope

Radar Scope is an old school vert shooter from Nintendo.  Kinda like Galaxian, kinda like Space Invaders, kinda like Phoenix, kinda like Juno First.  The graphics are weak, but I like the way they are set on a slight angle to try to give the game a 3D feel.  Also, the lines that are supposed to denote the radar give you general aiming angles as the perspective of the game converges towards the middle-top of the screen.

The longer it takes you to clear a round/screen/wave, the more crap that gets launched at you and the less bonus you get at the end of the round (a timer counts down from 99 in each wave).

There are better looking and smoother playing games, but the one thing I like best about playing Radar Scope is the difficulty/attack patterns of the enemies.  The combo of the quick hard dives and the somewhat cock-eyed perspective can make it difficult to land your shots.  Especially since you can only have two in the air at once.  Take a couple of shots at an enemy, and if you miss (and you will), get the fuck out of the way!

Simple, good fun.
